Ground Fault and Electrical Failures (Floating Fountain)

This fountain was tripping the beaker and was non operational for quite some time. Many electricians and motor repair shops tried to fix the problem but nobody could fix the issue.
This is our electrical team taking amperage readings seeing what amps the motor is drawing at the time of operation.
This image is of a Megger milli-amp reader that measures the amps lost in the long cable runs. Anything over 5 milli-amps and the breakers will trip due to safety built into the control panel. A small leak in the quick disconnect caused the trip and was easily repaired.

Historical Fountain Restoration

This image was taken in the early 1900's and shows the oldest fountain in Ontario operating off of an aquifer as a water source.

This images shows the stone specialists from Clifford Restoration restoring the stone and bringing the Belfountain back to life after many years of neglect.

Copper pipe was used in this fountain restoration as the Credit Valley Conservation wanted to keep the theme of early 1900's materials in use during the restoration of the fountain. As the aquifer and original pipes did not work any further new pumps and nozzles were used.

Engineered pedestals and fiberglass reinforced grating was used to protect the public from the water depth and allow for a clean looking fountain.

The Belfountain restoration is complete and ready for water and a new life of operation.

After many years of planning and design the Belfountain is now fully restored and ready for many more decades of operation for all to enjoy for the next century.

Condominium Split Slab Water Fountain Restoration

This image shows a construction worker removing failed waterproofing. This waterproofing is supposed to be adhered to the concrete and not removable by pulling. It was identified the waterproofing was potentially installed on non-cured concrete.

The entire fountain needed to be removed and the concrete was almost thirty inches deep so a small excavator with a demolition hammer was brought in for the job

Many pipes were found to be broken and filled with concrete from the original installers. Many pipes were trapped and did not drain the winter water and broke during the winter months.

Using specialized bronze fountain slab penetrations and fittings a hole was broken through the parking garage slab to allow for the installation of pipes and electrical conduits.

After the hole is removed from the structural slab allowing access for the pipes into the new mechanical area.

Concrete is then installed around the fittings closing the garage slab. Hot applied waterproofing will then be installed on the concrete and a clamping system will be used to ensure a tight seal on the pennetrations.

After the waterproofing is installed protection board is installed and a electromagnetic waterproofing testing is done to ensure a tight seal.

When the fountain is fully formed with the new sumps and floor, the articulating boom concrete truck comes on site to pour the next phase of concrete.

The concrete is now being poured on the structural foam, rebar and piping systems to encapsulate everything in one large structure.

Once the concrete is cured the forms are pulled reveling the new concrete structure.

Once the concrete cures and dries for 28 days, the new highly engineered waterproofing systems are installed. This seven layer system allows for a twenty year guarantee.

These bronze water fountain specialty fittings allow for a water tight seal. The waterproofing goes over the drain fitting and the bronze clamps tighten down to ensure a proper seal for decades.

Once the fountain is fully restored and filled with water the pumps are turned on for everyone to enjoy.

Deck Slab Water Fountain Restorations and Installations

This project was an existing suspended slab landscape structure. After 35 years of operation the entire landscape was completely removed and the water fountain was to be built from the top of the parking level No.1 concrete slab.

Layout and concrete formwork is started for the overall shape of the water fountain. This layout is very precise and to the millimeter.

Drains are scanned and layout out to prevent any rebar from being cut in the process of installation. The rule is “DO NOT CUT REBAR” and these projects go smoothly, cut the rebar and structural engineering has to be completed.

Once the core is completed it is grouted in place with formwork on the underside of the parking garage slab to hold concrete grout in place.

String lines and lasers are used to set all of the drain elevations for the lower gutter for the overflow wall. These drains are installed to the millimeter.

Once all of the inlets and outs are installed to the proper elevations, structural insulation is used to bring the fountains floor to its proper elevation. This allows for reduced loads on the structural slabs.

Once all of the pipes and insulation is installed the concrete crew comes in to start the 2400 sq/ft floor installation. This was a full day pour that had eights trucks of engineered concrete to complete the floor installation.

As the main crew of concrete installers work on the far end of the floor the concrete finishers start working on the concrete installed earlier in the day.

Once the mechanical and electrical is installed the rest of the formwork is installed and the concrete crew returns to pour and finish the concrete walls.

After the floors and walls have been completed the outer concrete shell of the fountain is exposed and is ready for an engineered waterproofing system.

Waterproofing is the most important phase of the water fountain installation. A crew of installers has only limited time to apply the waterproofing systems.

While the waterproofing is being completed the piping and mechanical work is completed in the parking levels. This water fountain used both parking level one and two to move the required water.

Once the waterproofing and mechanical systems are installed the granite coping for the infinity edge pool is installed. The granite coping is installed to the millimeter across the entire overflow wall.

At night the water fountain is illuminated by two low wattage lights that give the center geyser a nice glow.

Over two years in planning and construction the fountain restoration is complete for family and residence to enjoy.

Clarence Square (Municipal Water Fountains)

A concrete basin and pool has been poured to contain and locate the fountain being removed from the Art Gallery of Ontario. The fountain has been dismantled and ready for installation at its new location in Clarence Square in Toronto.

Waterproofing systems are installed on the concrete surfaces with a custom colour of creamy mushroom tinted directly from the manufacturer.

Coping works are installed on the pool walls for a decorative finish. Surrounding landscapes are started to complete the overall project.

Now filled with water this 100 year old fountain has a new home and landscape to highlight.

This fountain is now a meeting area for local residence to relax and enjoy the sound of water during warm summer days.

The final product is a work of art that will last for years to come and for all to enjoy.

Township of Pembroke Bi-Centennial Fountain Restoration

This water fountain was made for Canada's Centennial celebrations in 1967 for the country's 100th birthday of independance.

This fountain was installed for Canada's 1967 100 year centennial celebrations. This fountain ran for decades but over those years the mechanical and electrical systems reached their life expectancy.

The pump and vault systems had to be designed and installed with new state of the art control panels, wind sensors and pumps.

Display nozzles had to be modified and new engineered nozzles installed to allow for operation during windy days.

Lights and filtration systems had to be redesigned and installed for a new fresh look. Using old previsions this was achieved by our design staff and highly skilled installation technicians.

Once the mechanical and electrical systems were installed it was time to fill and start the fountain. The end result was nothing less than stunning!

The newly designed fountain nozzle system worked perfectly. Having smaller foam nozzles aerate the water for the main display nozzle, water loss from splashing water was highly reduced.

With city hall and the clocktower in the background this water fountain highlights the town and brings back a piece of the Townships heritage.

Copings were installed on the backside of the top podium to stop water from splashing backwards out of the fountain.

In the evening the water fountain is highlighted by four energy efficient lights. These lights illuminate the center geyser column of water beautifully.

The lighting was designed to match the surrounding warm yellow halogen landscape and city lighting. This worked well, all of the lights work well to compliment one another.

Final product is a fountain over 50 years old that runs and looks like new.
