Algae & water treatment
Clear water, fixed at the cause.
Water treatment programs, debris removal and aeration for fountains and ponds, from technicians who service water every week.

How do you control algae in a fountain or pond?
You control algae by removing what feeds it, not only by adding chemical. Debris and organic matter release nutrients, and still, warm water lets algae take hold. A good program removes debris, applies the right water treatment, and adds circulation or aeration so the water stays clear between visits.
We combine those tools on every fountain and pond we look after, from condo courtyards to stormwater ponds.
Three tools
What actually clears the water

Remove
Debris removal
Portable vacuuming and clean-outs remove the leaves and organics that keep feeding algae, which lowers chemical use.

Treat
Water treatment
Chemical application and water conditioners matched to the fountain or pond, checked on every visit.

Move
Aeration and circulation
Aerating fountains and aerators add oxygen and movement, which reduces algae, odour and muck.
Fountains
Why some fountains burn through chemical
Many fountains have no way to remove fallen debris from a large reservoir. The debris breaks down, feeds algae, and the fountain uses large amounts of chemical to keep up.
Our technicians set up custom portable pool vacuum systems and remove all the debris. Fixing the cause lowers chemical costs, especially after the fall leaf load.

What’s included
A water treatment program
- Water checks on each visit
- Chemical application and water conditioners

- Weekly reports for ministry submission where needed
- Visit reports after each service
How it works
Starting a treatment program
01
Look at the water
We look at the fountain or pond, its debris load, circulation and current treatment, and what you are seeing.
02
Fix the cause
We clean out debris and organics, and recommend aeration or circulation where the water sits still.
03
Set a schedule
Commercial fountains run on weekly or bi-weekly visits, with water checked and treated each time.
04
Report
You get a visit report after each service, and weekly reports for ministry submission where a site needs them.
Cleaner water
Moving water, clean basins.
Aeration on ponds and regular cleaning in fountain basins both keep algae in check.

FAQ
Algae and water questions
Why does my fountain keep turning green?
Usually debris in the reservoir is feeding algae, and the water isn’t moving enough. Removing the debris and keeping a steady treatment program on a regular schedule fixes the cause.
Will more chemical fix algae?
Not on its own. Chemical treats the symptom; removing debris and adding circulation treats the cause, and usually lowers the amount of chemical needed.
Does aeration help with pond algae?
Yes. Aeration adds oxygen and circulation, which reduces algae, odour, muck and mosquito breeding. See pond and lake aeration.
How often should a fountain’s water be treated?
Commercial fountains we maintain are serviced weekly or bi-weekly, and the water is checked and treated on those visits.
Can you provide water reports for ministry submission?
Yes. Where a site needs them, we provide weekly reports for ministry submission.
